10 years anniversary Foundation!
"Maria de Lourdes, the voice of Mexico"

On March, 5th, 2002, a few enthousiastic Maria de Lourdes and Mexican music fans decided to establish the foundation "Maria de Lourdes, the voice of Mexico" to promote, in the footmarks of Maria de Lourdes, Mexican music in the Netherlands.
The board members were Mr. Hans Eversteijn as acting chairman, Mrs. Toos Zeguers as administrator and Mrs. Jeannette van Dijk as treasurer, since 2010 replaced by Mrs. Ine Derks.
Mr. H. Vos designed the nice and comprehensive website which he provided with new information regularly.

Although the foundation was not able to organize concerts last year, due to lack of sponsors in relation to the economic crisis, yet many events during the past ten years happened to look back at with pride and satisfaction.
Countless concerts and performances took place on instigation of the foundation. During the first eight years the concerts in the historic harbour of Maastricht, The Bassin, became a tradition during the summer one would look out for.
It first started with a concert of Carolina de Holanda, accompanied by the guitarists Elías Torres and Pedro Crespo from Mexico, with Lázaro (son of María de Lourdes) and Silvia de Alba.
In the next years we had concerts with mariachi Los Tarascos under Pedro Pozos, mariachi Los Morenos, Texmex-formation Borderline with Martin Krousen on accordion, The Ballet Folclorico Corazón de México, mariachi Serenata Mexicana and Trio Sol y Luna.

During 2003, 2005 and 2006 the foundation organized concerts in the Maastricht theater "La Bonbonnière" with Carolina de Holanda, mariachi Los Tarascos and dancegroup Corazón de México with lots of succes.

In the same year the foundation managed to walk away with a contract for Carolina de Holanda to get her first performance at the Festival Dias Latinos in Amersfoort, thereafter many receptions on this famous festival were granted.
Slowly we saw Carolina de Holanda grow out to be a  fantastic interpreter of the Mexican song, a singer María de Lourdes would definitely be proud of !
