Maria de Lourdes' son Lázaro (born in 1970), at a young age decided to follow in the footsteps of his mother and dedicate himself to the tradional Mexican song.
Under the guidance of maestro Manuel Peńa, Lázaro developed his tenor voice, was singing boleros and huapangos, showing a great command of his falsetto.
As a singer he performed everywhere in Mexico and together with his mother he traveled throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America. He already has recorded a number of CD's.
During the concerts of María de Lourdes he almost always stood by her side and together they presented various songs. In Holland he faithfully translated her Spanish into English when she addressed her audience.
It was an enormous shock for Lázaro and difficult to cope with when, in his presence, his mother died so unexpectedly at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
